Routine eye exams

All annual eye examinations are thorough and comprehensive—nothing about our examinations are routine. Every exam includes testing for cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, as well as screenings for hypertensive and diabetic eye disease. Additionally, we perform Optos retina screenings. This provides digital documentation for future comparisons of the nerve layer located in the back of the eye, allowing for the earliest detection of retina disease by failsafe digital comparison. This allows us to study your overall health in remarkable ways. We also perform age appropriate Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) for the earliest detection of glaucoma and optic nerve disease. These tests are painless and do not usually require dilation of pupils.

We also perform a 3D High Definition optical path difference (OPD) abberometer and auto refraction on every patient. This painless device analyzes the patient prescription for day and night vision. The OPD also provides mapping and imaging of the front of the eye. This is invaluable information for the doctor to provide the most precise spectacle or contact lens prescription.

The doctor will then review all images and data on a large flat screen in each exam room with the patient. What this means is that for the first time, you will actually “see what the doctor sees.” At Insight we feel that by informing and educating you as much as possible, you will feel more at ease about possible diagnoses.

All data is seamlessly transferred electronically throughout the office for a paperless exam experience in an effort to be as efficient and “green” as possible. There are virtually no practices in the country that run these tests as part of a routine eye examination, but at Insight, we do not believe in compromising our ultimate goal to prevent blindness.

Complete information folders will be given to you following the eye exam. These folders will include images of your eyes, necessary prescriptions, as well as care recommendations. If you sign up for our email service, you will also receive a post-examination email providing you with informational videos on your particular diagnosis.

Specialized eye exams

We offer comprehensive laser eye surgery evaluations for those who wish to know if they are a candidate to reduce their dependency on contact lenses and spectacles. We have the technology to answer your questions. We also offer pre- and post-operative surgical care. We have over 15 years experience with laser eye surgery patients and have successfully advised and cared for thousands of patients. The laser eye surgery evaluation is offered at no additional cost during your routine eye examination.

We offer complete ophthalmic diabetic and hypertensive medical evaluations and fully compliant PQRI (Physician Quality Reporting Initiative). If your physician recommends a comprehensive eye examination, we can help you by providing all the detailed reports required. You and your general physician will immediately receive all images and documents for the best care possible.

We have over 20 years experience in offering comprehensive cataract surgery pre- and post-operative care for our patients. We can help you make your decision on the large variety of intraocular implants that may reduce your dependency on spectacles or contact lenses. The end result can often be similar to laser eye surgery. For some patients, intraocular implants can be utilized as a refractive surgery procedure. This is often the case in the very nearsighted patient, or sometimes if the patient has a very thin corneal tissue.

Follow-up care for specialized eye exams

Follow up care is provided on a more frequent basis for the new contact lens wearer. Contact lens progress examinations are essential for success and are usually recommended at one week, three weeks, and six weeks. All progress examination professional fees are included in the global billing. These service periods are usually extended for a 90-day period.

All other follow up care is provided on a doctor recommended basis and can vary depending on the severity of the eye disease, injury, or routine progress examination. Your Insight doctor may need to see you on a daily basis if you have suffered an ocular injury. Whatever your situation, we recommend annual eye exams for routine eye care and six month visits for contact lens patients.

We have extensive experience with apprehensive patients—those perhaps motivated to wear contact lenses but afraid to insert lenses, and those facing serious eye disease. We are caring and empathetic to our patients, and have built our reputation on being the place to go for excellent eye care without being rushed out of the door. If a patient has extra needs and requires extra time, it is never a problem at our office. We are experienced in the many unique needs of our patients—our number one source of new patients is on the recommendation of our current patients.
